We all new, how much volcanic
activities affect our life. The United States Geological survey has developed a color – coded warming system to describe the current status of active
volcanoes. These Alert system help peoples of near volcanic areas to take good
step and save our life and family.
1. Green Alert: - Volcano
displaying above background levels of activity through to a moderate level of
unrest.
2. Yellow Alert: - Intense
unrest. Seismic activity is elevated, potential for eruptive activity is
increased. A plume of gas, steam and minor amounts of ash may rise several
thousand feet above the volcano.
3. Orange Alert: - Accelerating
and intense unrest. An eruption is likely within hours to days. Small ash
eruptions are expected or confirmed. Seismic disturbance has been recorded on
local seismic stations, but not at more distant locations.
4. Red Alert: - Eruption
is in progress. A plume is likely to rise to 25,000 feet or more (over 7,600m)
above sea level. Strong seismic disturbance is recorded on all local and
commonly on more distant stations.
Above
mentioned four colour coded system alert system of volcano are most important
for peoples. Government agencies always update status of these alert and
peoples get away about latest alert. According to alert they prepare
themselves. Now I tell you important works and steps to take during a volcanic
eruption, which are as following: -
1.
Be aware of the volcanic Alert system and status of volcano.
2.
Be aware of all the dangers.
3.
Evacuate quickly.
4.
Be prepared for ash falls.
5.
In the event of an ash fall, it is best to remain inside and seal all doors,
windows and vents.
6. The
sharp jagged ash particles are extremely abrasive, so it is necessary to wear
goggles and a dust mask outdoors.
7.
Avoid using the car or other motorized appliances as the ash will damage them,
when there is adequate warning of an eruption, keep them covered.
8. Keep
the roof of your home clear of ash. Wet ash is extremely heavy and even a build-up
of a few inches can cause the roof to collapse. You may also need to assist neighbours.
